Come to our meeting this Saturday and learn how we can work with Common Cause to strengthen democracy in New Mexico. Heather Ferguson, Executive Director of Common Cause New Mexico, will be the featured speaker at NMMOP’s general meeting this Saturday.

Heather will address Common Cause’s priorities in this year’s legislative session and how NMMOP might work with Common Cause to ensure their enactment.

Some of those priorities that also coincide with NMMOP’s priorities are:

  1. Enabling legislation guiding the powers and duties of the new Independent Ethics Commission, which NM voters approved in the November election.
  2. The National Popular Vote Compact that would ensure that the presidential candidate with the most votes across the country wins the election.
  3. Automatic Voter Registration, a process to automatically identify and register all eligible Americans to vote. It will actively update NM voter registration information when people apply for or renew their driver’s license or when they change their address.

If you can’t make it to this Saturday’s meeting, but would like to help NMMOP during the legislative session, email Ishwari Sollohub. Thanks. Together we can make things happen!

Heather Ferguson serves as the Executive Director for Common Cause New Mexico.

Before joining Common Cause, Heather Ferguson was the paralegal to the president of the second largest defense law firm in Albuquerque. She has extensive political experience, having worked on various federal, state and municipal campaigns over the past 17 years.

Heather is a graduate and class valedictorian of Emerge, a national political campaign education program. She graduated with honors from the University of California at Los Angeles with a B.A.
