John House leaves RepresentUs New Mexico
After five years, John House has decided to leave RepresentUs New Mexico. As the last remaining founding binomo sign in member of New Mexicans for Money Out of Politics, which became RepresentUs New Mexico in 2020, John was a part of this organization from its very beginning back in 2016. Since the organization incorporated in 2017, John has served on the board of directors and, as Secretary and Vice President. He served as its President for the last two years and eight months. During that time, RUNM accomplished a great deal in the fight to preserve, protect and further democracy in America and John’s contributions to those efforts and accomplishments were considerable. John intends to continue to work to defend, preserve and strengthen democracy in America, individually and in concert with other individuals and nonprofit organizations with whom he has collaborated on many initiatives and actions. July 11 Deadline for Democracy Rally a Huge Success
On Sunday, July 11th, from 11am-noon MT, at the Federal Building/US Courthouse Park106 S. Federal Place, Santa Fe, New Mexico, RUNM organized and hosted with partners Indivisible Santa Fe, Indivisible SOS Santa Fe, Leslie Lakind and Craig O’Hare the Deadline for Democracy local rally event in Santa Fe as part of a national grassroots effort participated in by over 200 organizations in over 160 cities and towns nationwide. The event http://www.binomo-co.in/ included featured speakers Santa Fe Mayor Alan Webber, Santa Fe County Clerk Katharine Clark, NM Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver and U.S. Congresswoman for NM District 3 Teresa Leger Fernandez and others.
At the rally, the speakers addressed the crowd of between 250 and 300 people about the efforts in state legislatures in 48 states to pass bills (more than 25 hed already passed at the time) to suppress voting rights and the critical need for the U.S. Senate to pass S.1, the For the People Act and that Congress pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act by the end of this summer. Indivisible Santa Fe, Indivisible SOS Santa Fe and RUNM provided the audience with actions that they could take to persuade Congress and the President of the dire necessity to pass this important legislation.

Our democracy urgently needs repair.
The “Big Lie” of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election that motivated a violent insurrection at the Capitol has sparked an unprecedented wave of voter suppression laws in the states. The upcoming redistricting cycle threatens to once again binomo-co.in/ be marred by extreme partisan gerrymandering that will distort congressional elections for a decade. And our broken campaign finance system continues to foster a widespread sense from Americans across the political spectrum that their voices simply do not count relative to big donors and entrenched interests.
These challenges are, among other things, intimately connected to our nation’s history of racial injustice, from persistent efforts to keep voters of color away from the ballot box, to gerrymandering that has repeatedly sought to dilute their political power, to the racial wealth gap that is a persistent barrier to many candidates of color raising enough funds to compete.
But today we also have a historic opportunity to strengthen American democracy.
